"Fantastic remote assessment"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as a service user),

My Dad recently had a remote assessment with Dr Sitaram following his first seizure. The appointment was fantastic. The Dr took his time to speak to Dad and Mum making sure he had a full and accurate picture of Dad's presentation and health history. Indeed his skills were such that we were able to unearth aspects of our family history previously not considered relevant by ourselves.

His manner was lovely, reassuring and very patient. He gave Dad a thorough and comprehensive explanation of his potential diagnosis, proposed further investigations and treatment plan.As a hearing aid user Dad was anxious about being able to hear so had asked myself to sit in on the consultation but Dr Sitaram's excellent communication skills meant I was not needed.

At Dad's request we wanted to thank Dr Sitaram and Graham for their time and work arranging this appointment, it has been so reassuring and Dad feels much better knowing that driving may again may be in his future.

Thank you again for your time, compassion and understanding. As a regional service the challenges facing neurology are significant and it speaks to the professionalism and dedication of the staff that at no point has Dad felt like a number or statistic.

Hello Gratefuldaughter15,

Thank you for taking the time to share your lovely feedback with us via Care Opinion. I have shared your comments with Graham Christie, the Clinical Service Manager for Neurology. He said:

"Thank you for your kind words following your fathers remote consultation. Within the Neurology department we are constantly striving to improve and develop our services in order to support patient centred care.

I’m pleased to hear that this change has impacted positively for your father.

I would like to wish both yourself and your father all the best and stay safe."

Many Thanks,

Rachel
