"Great service from the NHS all round!"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde West Scotland Breast Screening Centre

(as a service user),

Found a lump on my breast. Panicked -   I am 50 and missed my mammogram because of Covid. Phoned my GP surgery. Had a call back from my GP who told me to pop round to the surgery in 5 minutes. She examined me then put me forward for an “urgent suspected cancer” referral. I got a letter 4 days later with an appointment for the breast clinic. This wasn’t for another week when I would be in training in London for my new job. I rang reception and spoke to Carolyn. She was so kind and understanding. She managed to organise another appointment very quickly. The appointment itself was slick. My doctor was a Ms McDonald who was very thorough.   Examined, mammogram, ultra sound and consultation. All within less than 2 hours. Luckily everything was fine and the lump was not suspicious. I breathed a very big sigh of relief! I can’t thank everyone enough for this fantastic service!

Hello Lsc,

I am sorry to read of your recent experience, it must have been a very frightening time for you. However I am so pleased to know it was good news and you are keeping well.

Thank you for taking the time to share this lovely feedback with us. It is fantastic to read that the staff at the breast clinic looked after you so well. I have shared this post with the team there, who will ensure it reaches Carolyn and Ms McDonald. I am sure they will be delighted to know what a positive impact they had on your care.

I note that you also mentioned a GP surgery. They have a slightly different way of receiving feedback from our other services so they won't receive this post. If you would like, you can email me at Rachel.pyle@gcc.scot.nhs.uk with their details and I will be delighted to pass on your kind words to them too.

Congratulations also on your new job and very best of luck!

Many Thanks,

Rachel
