"Giving me my life back"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiac Catherterisation University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology University Hospital Hairmyres / Coronary Care Unit

(as a service user),

Went through my Cardiac Artery Bypass Graft 4 years ago at another hospital, never really felt right when I came out but for 1st year I put everything down to recovery process, still felt unwell for the next 3 years and had issues with GP getting referred back to cardiology. I still felt something just was not right, managed to finally get referral to Hairmyres to do a further treadmill test which showed up some abnormalities, very quick referral to Cath Lab for an angiogram.

Following the angiogram the consultant discovered a narrowing of the right artery, both left arteries had been bypassed 2016, consultant went straight ahead with inserting a stent and I was released from hospital same day. I already feel much better and the care and attention I received from Cath Lab staff at Hairmyres was second to none and I cannot thank them enough, looking forward to getting my life back from now on!

Special thanks to Angela who I now consider to be my guardian angel as she has been present at each step of this journey for me and I could not even begin to praise her enough to do her justice, thank you for seeing me through this and giving me my life back!

Dear Serpico

Thank you very much for your feedback, it sound like you have been on a long journey with your cardiac health and it is great to hear you are feeling much better. The team in the Cath Lab try their best to ensure all patients are looked after to high standards and they will be delighted to learn that in your case they managed to achieve this. I will pass on your special thanks to Angela, I know she will be very happy if not humbled that you are describing her as your guardian angel - this is a very special statement indeed.

I hope you are continuing to recover well and get your strength back, wishing you all the best for the future.

Kind Regards

Kirsty
