My illness was discovered after I collapsed in a local shop in Barnstaple. I was taken to North Devon District Hospital where my cancer was diagnosed. Unfortunately there was a medical complication and a surgeon could not be found in the South West who would take my case on.
Eventually, I ended up at Guys Hospital in London, where Dr O'Brien removed my left kidney and spleen. I very fortuitously arrived back home on Christmas Eve 2018. Since then I have been attending the Seamoor Unit at NDDH where I have been extremely well looked after by Dr Sheehan and her team. There was one little blip at Easter 2018 when I ended up back in NDDH having caught sepsis. Since then everything appears to going in right direction according to the results of various scans and blood tests
