"Intolerable extra strains"

Ezec wanted to leave my father at home on his own an hour before his care worker was booked to see him home after an 18 day hospital stay. He has dementia. I explained that arriving home on his own would be unsafe for him and had been assured that there would be flexibility, but there was none.

I had to ask a friend to pick him up or he would have been stranded in hospital until something else could be arranged. This is unsafe and inflexible practice and a four hour window for a person with dementia is not acceptable. For carers locked down because of covid these are intolerable extra strains to manage.
