"Our lives continue"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as a service user),

Rampton C-3

99% of staff are very supportive & caring.

One or two I dread when they are on shift. A lot of other patients feel the same but a lot of us are scared to speak up, especially on my ward, so we put up with it and it is wrong. I am very comfortable with all patients on my current ward. We (staff & patients) have all pulled together during the Covid lockdown. The security restrictions make me feel like an incapable child who cannot be trusted, but that's Rampton Hospital for you. They are talking about stopping us from having our own musical instruments which would be devastating for a lot of us. My psychology & talking therapies have changed my life for the better. We are not here to be punished. Our lives continue!

HI,

Thanks so much for posting and being able to vocalise your concerns regarding some staff members. I am really interested in your views about these and would like to understand more. Would you be comfortable to speak to your ward manager or anyone to share this information or even book some time with your matrons or myself?

The security restrictions are not imposed by Rampton unfortunately but by the Security Directions so we have no choice but to comply with them. However, if there is something your are struggling with then we need to understand more and maybe explain the reason behind them and possible look at alternative for you.

There has been no decisions regarding musical instruments or removing them so again discuss this at your patient forum so this can be picked up and we can support you

Thank you for posting

Adele

Thanks for taking the time to send us feedback about your ward.

Like Adele has said I hope you can discuss this more. I do know the Matron, Ward Manger and Adele would be happy to talk with you. Sorry but it is not clear which ward you are on. If you can let us know please

Thank you again for your time and posting

Thank you for this posting that you are feeling supported to raise concerns and at the same time give positive feedback on how majority of staff are supportive and caring. The issues raised are being addressed by the Ward Manager and Deputy Matron. These issues have been discussed openly in Community meetings and Staff meetings. 1:1 support has been offered to individual patients. All patients were encouraged to address their concerns with any MDT staff they have a good rapport with and that widens the support network available. I would be interested to get feedback as to whether there are any improvements or not.

Thank you

Purity
