(as a service user),

Patient Care

I witnessed patients being left for average of about 15 minutes having pushed the assistance alarm for a number of things until staff attend to them.

The wards are all now mixed patients with different needs (don't retain their original purpose) so there are many elderly patients in here and many mixed needs.

Bed-ridden and sick patients were pushing the alarms for things like help going to the toilet, not feeling well, needing help turning or moving in bed, needing a drink. Most recent patient pressed an alarm because they were falling out of bed, but wasn't attended for 15 minutes. This Patient was elderly.

Due to this, patient alarm has not stopped ringing (constant) and this is disturbing patients who need rest

Due to the mix, elderly patients with dementia who tend to be rather noisy and vocal have been put opposite people with autism

In my opinion, Weston General Hospital Has Fallen Down...

I was also given 2 semi-collapsed mattresses yesterday, one which hurt my back, before I was given one for someone with a broken foot and I do not have a broken foot. I have been told I will have to put up with this one. It seems to me as if the mattress audit is not being completed. There were no dates (age) on some mattresses, and I didn't see the broken one's being thrown away, just put on another bed

The Hospital is dilapidated and I felt like at any minute a roof's going to cave in.

I felt I kind of had to tip-toe around because I'm scared to break anything that isn't already broken.

I saw a rat trying to climb into the hospital through an open window this week.

These staff work so hard, they need a PROPER building to work in. This isn't a Hospital, not even a building site; not even a building in progress. This is a ruin of a building that once was decades ago. Give these Staff what they deserve. Knock it down and rebuild.
