"Receiving my images became a problem"

About: Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre

(as the patient),

I had a MRI scan here privately and wish that I hadn't. The scan its self went well, it was the process of recieving my images and being able to pass them on which became a problem. The images aren't provided on a cd rom and instead are emailed to you via a link which you have to wait 3 weeks for. The images where of poor quality on the email link and this made it difficult for my consultant to give me a confident diagnosis. Not all private consultants have access to the NHS image sharing system. I have since paid to have my scan at another private hospital where I received my images on a disc the same day and have since taken them back to my chosen consultant. This has cost me about another 500 pounds and delayed me in getting the correct diagnosis.
