I am a frequent flyer and have had excellent care from all the people that work in Aberdeen's Ophthalmology department, however, I feel there is a crucial role that is missing from the team - a liaison nurse or officer. I need someone that can translate consultant into common tongue, hold my hand, answer my questions, and explain the potential next steps.
I suffer from a complex uveitis problem, that I don't fully understand even to this day. Luckily it was just active in my left eye until I found out today that it's now also in my right eye. The current medication is no longer holding the problem and quite frankly I'm sitting here crying, unsure what this means for me. So I now have a a very bad left eye and a right eye that's going the same way. What will happen with regards to my job / career, driving, and all the other things that come with potential sight loss, are there any alternatives. I do find it so hard to speak to my consultant at the best of times - please is there a middle person - that can help?
