Our daughter has been an inpatient at Claythorn House for almost a year. At first we were clueless and emotionally drained as we didn’t know how to help her with her mental illness. It was made even more difficult as she has a learning disability, autism and epilepsy.
It has been an emotional rollercoaster for us as a family over the past year and we honestly wouldn’t have gotten through it without the help, care and support of all the fantastic staff at Claythorn House.
They have supported us through every up and down and have made us see the positives when all we could see was a long dark tunnel ahead. We are hopefully now coming to the end of her time at Claythorn in the next couple of months and getting her ready for the next phase in her life. Without the love and support all the staff have given our daughter, we never would have thought we’d be contemplating her getting well and seeing her happy and smiling again. Her medication has been trial and error over the past year and she’s now settled on Clozapine which is helping with her illness and hallucinations.
Our sincere thanks and appreciation goes without saying and we can never repay the care that each and every member of staff has shown our daughter. To us they are more than staff and we will miss them all terribly when her time comes for moving on.
They all know who they are but special thanks to:
Dr. Smiley, Mhairi, Alison, Mary, Maureen, Steven, Caroline, Angela, Lauren and every single person at Claythorn. Love and best wishes to them all.
"They have supported us through every up and down"
