"Recovery from alcoholism"

I returned to the UK after living abroad for a long time battling with alcoholism. I had tried rehab twice overseas and was still struggling. It had resulted in the loss of my marriage, my family unit, my job and the life I loved so much. I was very ill, both mentally and physically. I was at a very low point in my life and couldn’t see how any support or treatment could work. I was left feeling hopeless and lost. 

I immediately began seeking all the care and support services I could. Through the GP I was able to get physically assessed and admitted and was treated brilliantly to restore me back to full health. I contacted CGL and the Wellbeing services, both who provided me with ongoing support and guidance. I was treated as a human with an illness, not with disdain or disgust which meant a huge deal to me at the time following my fall from grace. Thankfully, with their support and on going relentless positivity I am now nearly 8 months sober, a previously unthinkable achievement.
