"Poor Treatment by Midwife"

My wife had a midwife appointment at Wycombe hospital today. When she got home she was very upset because she felt as though the midwife had treated her like a piece of work that she had to get through and as though the appointment was a tick-box exercise, rather than checking how she and the baby are doing. Not once was she asked how she was. It would have made the world of difference if the midwife had taken two minutes to show an interest and to show that there was someone in the healthcare system who cared about her wellbeing, but that didn't happen.
What makes this even more disappointing is that it is really tough for pregnant women and their families in lockdown because they are only able to receive a very limited amount of support from friends and family.
It is also Mental Health Awareness week, something that has clearly passed this particular midwife by, and even more of a reason for someone just to ask how my wife was doing. This is the second time my wife has seen this particular midwife and the treatment was the same last time.
It is a real shame that my wife had to experience this because when we had our first baby, the staff at Stoke Mandeville were superb and when we have been on the paediatric ward everyone has been amazing.
