As an NHS Ayrshire & Arran employee I already know how great this trust is for patient care but last weekend I experienced this first hand. Whilst changing my daughter (aged 4 months) I noticed a purple rash on both her legs. This rash did not disappear with pressure. Phoned 111 & they told me to head straight up to A&E at Crosshouse. We arrived around 7pm & were taken very quickly. Both the nurse & doctor were so so lovely. Very thorough & reassuring. They decided we should go up to the ward to have bloods taken.
On ward 1A the nurse in charge was excellent (I didn’t catch her name). Compassionate & just genuinely very caring. Nothing was a trouble. We were so well looked after. I was asked several times if I’d like anything to eat/drink & if we needed anything. Iona the doctor who came to take bloods was excellent. She did a fab job of getting blood from a very distressed baby & again was very kind & reassuring throughout. The 2nd doctor who took over after Iona left (again didn’t catch her name) was also absolutely fantastic. Reassuring, caring & just a lovely person. She was very apologetic when she had to come & take more bloods. Bloods came back clear & we were able to go home but was told if there was ANYTHING at all that changed to please give them a phone. A very worrying time for me but thanks to the amazing staff this was made much much less stressful. I would really appreciate it if you could pass on my thanks to all involved for their superb care 💗. xx
