"Dismissive attitude..."

About: Aspri Medical Centre

I am 65 and my family have noticed I have lost a fair amount of weight recently. I was going to get myself checked out but then a few weeks ago I started to also feel fatigued and a little off after a long days work (I usually don't have such problems, thankfully).

So on my wife and son's advice, I made an appointment to see the main GP here.

Immediately, he checked my history and concluded it was probably just a B12 deficiency.

I have private cover and given my age and concern from loved ones, I insisted on a referral to be seen for a specialist, but he outright refused and sent me home with a prescription for B12 , this was later given in the form of B12 shots.

A couple of weeks later and I still am feeling weak and no better but still he insists this is nothing to worry about.

I don't know, maybe all the resources on the internet are wrong, with them warning of unintentional weightloss in over 65's being something to act on as an emergency.

I am in the process of moving myself and my entire family from this practice. The GP is arrogant, doesn't listen and recently seems to be getting more and more short tempered and snappy when questioning any of his choices when it comes to the patients own health and life.

This place is wrong and needs a shake up, somehow - AVOID if you love life and your family.

I am sorry that you had a reason to write your poor experience at our surgery. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We would like to be able to make changes to your experience and conclude this matter to your best satisfaction.

At the age of 65 years or even younger than that, one would want to investigate such a matter further. Could this matter be a misunderstanding either on my part or yours?

Irrespective of that,I would strongly urge you to please make an urgent appointment with me so that we can review the whole situation again. If you are unable to get an urgent appointment, please leave a message for me so I can follow it up and intervene to offer immediate appointment.

If we find that our management has not been correct, we would apologise and certainly rapidly rectify to provide the best corrective solution. Without you in front of me and also being unable to look up the records it is difficult to make any firm comment/s.

I hope this helps. Looking forward to seeing you.
