"My audition for Casualty"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was brought in from my workplace having had an episode of coughing/breathlessness .

The paramedic, Alan, came to my work and examined and tested me.  He was very patient and kind and made my "audition for Casualty" much less frightening.   He passed me on to Ambulance Men David and another Alan from Motherwell who were equally professional and kind.

Wishaw Hospital A &E staff were also fantastic in my scary circumstances, put me at ease and explained everything as they went along. I don't remember all names,  just Sophie who was lovely.

What was a very unsettling period for me was made so much easier by everyone I came in contact with.

With mixed emotions I didn't get my part in Casualty - I was sent home.

Thank you all so much!

Dear MJ20,

You're right; the staff in the Emergency Department are fantastic! They work really hard to provide first class treatment and make sure that people are comfortable and informed at what is often a really worrying time.

I'm pleased to here that a visit to the Emergency Department didn't require an admission to hospital and you were able to return home (not back to work) I hope.

Sophie will be delighted that you remembered her specifically but as you've mentioned, there will have been numerous other colleagues who would have interacted with you; the whole department will share your feedback and reflect on a job well done.

Thanks for taking the time to get in touch.

Kind regards

Rick

Dear MJ20 many thanks for your kind words relating to the ambulance staff that responded to you. It is really great to hear your positive comments and I would be obliged if you could email me (agraham1@nhs.net) with some more detail to allow me to identify the staff and to pass on your comments to them.

I hope that you are recovering well

Andy
