"No name or instructions on tablets collected for my dad"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) University Hospital Ayr

(as a relative),

My 70 yr old dad has been unwell and deteriorating for several weeks, today we had to phone 111 for some advice and guidance. AFter speaking with a fantastic nurse and doctor on the phone. He advised to start some new medication until he could see his gp on Monday. I was told exactly where to pick up the prescription etc and made my way there. On getting there I spoke with someone who handed me a box of tablets and a prescription to hand into a pharmacy. The box of medication had no patient name on it, no instructions, no date or department it came from and no instructions of how many tablets to take. I attempted to phone the department twice to complain and voice my concerns about this and   was told no one was available to answer. I eventually (when I handed in his prescription )got to speak with a general pharmacist for advice who was also unhappy at the lack of information we were given. I am a healthcare professional myself, I am fully aware that this is unacceptable and dangerous. These tablets could of been given to anyone and even more negligent that there was nothing to tell my dad how many to take. Very poor indeed.
