"Reassurance in uncertain times"

About: Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead)

Having now had two cataracts replaced, and stents inserted, I am able to see a brighter new world. The procedure is unusual: as whilst the operation is being conducted; you are fully conscious, but cannot see a thing. The reassuring voice of the consultant, calms and tells you what is happening, when he is about to undertake actions and possible feelings. Your uncertainty is replaced by his reassurance. The results are amazing, each eye operation completed within the day, and recovered to full vision within four weeks.

It is not unusual to fear operations on the eyes, knowing the possibility of a negative outcome, i.e. the loss of sight, but I can only speak from personal experience, the whole journey to the destination was a risk well worth taking. I am seeing things in a new light literally.

I would like to thank not only my consultant, but his support team, including the administration staff, who dealt with my appointments with understanding and confidence.

Thank you all.
