"The birth of our daughter"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Maternity care Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Reproductive Health (Simpson Centre)

(as the patient),

We had outstanding care throughout our tricky pregnancy, induction and birth. Every week (sometimes 3 times a week) we had an appointment at Day Assessment for our baby who didn’t move- Paulina couldn’t have given us better care. The decision was made to be induced and Hannah looked after us so well during this process. The midwives during labour (Sheikha, Laura and Shona) were incredible then the care we received on the ward from Gemma and Nia was so personal. A special thanks to Alistair who looked after me when my blood pressure dropped. Our community midwives Hannah and Gemma were wonderful too. I can’t thank them all enough and can’t wait to thank them properly when it’s safe to do so.

After losing our first daughter and then enduring a difficult pregnancy that was full of worry, we were in the best hands every step of the way.

Dear JMc20

Congratulations on the birth of your baby. I am so pleased that despite a tricky pregnancy your baby is now here and safe with you at home.

I know how busy life is when you have just had a baby so thank you for taking the time to share your good news.

I will make sure that the midwives and doctor you mentioned know how much you appreciated their care.

I hope you are enjoying this time with your baby despite the difficult circumstances we find ourselves in.

Take care

Frances
