"I applaud each and every one of you."

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Victoria Hospital / Intensive Care Unit

(as the patient),

I was admitted to A&E, ITU then HDU. I can’t thank the paramedics, A&E consultant Dr Richard who I never met but he along with others saved my life. I was put on a ventilator and my sister who was also treated very well was told it could go either way, they couldn’t say if I would survive. When I was brought round I was terrified, had no idea what had happened or where I was. Each and every consultant, doctor, nurse and anyone I’ve missed were so kind and caring and not judgmental in any way.

I applaud each and every one of you and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I also want to apologise if I was a difficult Patient which I’m sure I was. I still have no memory of what happened.

Stay safe and I hope you all get the recognition, pay and working conditions that I think you so very much deserve when this virus is under control.

Staying home and practicing social distancing is such a small price to pay to keep our NHS and Heroes safe.

Thank you.

Dear Spa experience

Thank you very much for taking the time to share this lovely feedback with us all on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to hear about your admission and time in hospital. That sounds terrifying.

I am however really pleased to read that you are feeling better and to read all the kind words you have said about all the staff, particularly our crew. If you would like us to feedback to the crew that attended you that you are out of ITU and you give your thanks the team can action that no problem. All you need to do is email scotamb.feedback@nhs.net with the date, time and address that the vehicle attended along with your name. It would also be super helpful if you could reference your CareOpinion username so that the team know the email has come from a CareOpinion story. If this happens we will be sure to pass this on to the crew.

Take care and stay safe!

Kind Regards

Alan

Dear Spa experience,

I would like to say Thank You so much, for taking the time,to share your experience of your ICU stay. Intensive care can be terrifying,as you have stated, for both the patient and their family. Your description of not knowing what has happened or where you are, is a common theme in ICU survivor stories. Please do not ever worry that you were a difficult patient. There is no need to apologise....... I am just glad that you ( and your sister) found the staff to be kind and caring at such a difficult time.

I will share your story with the wider ICU team and wish you well in your recovery.

During this pandemic, words like yours are precious.

Many thanks again for your kind thoughts, stay safe.

Kind Regards

Colette Ross
