"Wonderful care of our mother"

About: Basildon Hospital / Clinical haematology

(as a relative),

Our 93 year old mother was admitted to the Katherine Monk Unit at Basildon hospital with pneumonia , she was confirmed to have Covid-19.

Due to her poorly condition it was agreed for her to be kept comfortable. 

Shortly after she received the last rites which family were able to share through the kindness of staff caring for her via video link.

The care and kindness we witnessed took our breath away and filled our hearts with joy.

No one can thank the staff in our NHS enough, but we do appreciate all you do for our loved ones. We know our mother will not die alone and this eases our grief a little.

Thank you with love from our very large family ❤️

Firstly may we offer you and your family our sincere condolences and apologise that our response to your comments did not appear on this site earlier. Please be assured that they were shared with the unit at the time.

In these current times we know it is very hard for relatives to be away from their loved ones, but wish to reassure you that the staff who are caring for our patients will always do everything they can to support them and their families at a such a difficult time.

Our thoughts are with you all at this time. Take care and stay safe.
