A few weeks ago I ended up being sent to the Surgical Assessment Unit at the Western General Hospital. My GP who was very good had me sent up to the hospital to be seen due to being unable to pass urine. I was seen to quite quickly by a nurse called Samantha who was so kind.
The nursing staff went above and beyond when I was in the unit they would come and check in on me regularly to check I was ok and if I needed anything. They had to bleep the urology doctors 3 times but had no response but the nurses kept trying as they knew how sore I was and wanted to get a plan sorted. The doctor I saw was good he listened to what had been happening health wise and discussed what they could do to help. I was then looked after by the night shift staff and again they were really good. Amanda (I think her name was) came in introduced herself and told me she was going to be putting a catheter in I’d never had one put in before and was a bit nervous but Amanda kept making sure I was ok throughout and briefly explained the catheter pack I’d take home with me and who to contact if I had any issues.
I’m not sure if I got the names of the staff correct but if you can find out and pass on my thanks and that they are doing a great job especially with things being difficult due to Covid-19.
