"Very pleased to see so many staff who clearly care..."

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

What I liked

We took my son (aged 7) in today as he had a nasty fall on a trampoline and was complaining about neck pain and we were fearing the worst.

From the lady on reception, to the lady who straight away did the initial assessment then onto the nurses and doctor who did further assessments, everyone was very kind and understanding and looked after us all in what was a very stressful time.

My son ended up having X-rays and an MRI scan to be on the safe side, again all of the staff involved in these departments were very friendly and tried to put us at ease and chatted to us (and more importantly my son) to update us on what was going on.

People are very quick to complain nowadays, so I think it is very important that I feed back when things have been great as well.

We have left feeling reasssured that my son will be fine and that every possible check has been done to ensure his wellbeing.

Thanks

What could be improved

We were kept waiting a long time for the results of the MRI scan as I understand the department was very busy. We were so worried that he would not be ok so this made the wait even more difficult, but we were updated on the delays at least.
