My husband arrived at Ninewells Hospital by ambulance on a Sunday evening. I followed in my car and on arrival at A & E found I should have been informed by the ambulance crew to stay at home and await a call from a doctor.
I returned home and later received a call from a doctor who was very good in explaining the situation. My husband was suffering from pneumonia and they were doing test for covid-19 . His treatment was clearly explained as well as what could be the outcome .
My husband was placed on ward 42. Kind Doctor Cobb let us speak to my husband the following day on her mobile which seemed to cheer him up and removed the feeling of being abandoned by us as he had not understood we could not visit. When he was tested positive he was moved to ward 17. Unfortunately after a spike my husband's condition deteriorated and the doctor phoned to say they were moving him into a side ward so that we could visit him. Doctor Goudie was exceptional taking time to explain every aspect of my husband's condition and answer our questions doing everything he could to try and save my husbands life. He made sure we knew the about ppe procedures.
Doctor Goudie, Gordon's nurses and all the nursing staff showed us the greatest kindness and consideration making my husband's last hours as comfortable and stress free as they could be under the circumstances.
My family and I would like to say how thankful we are for the care and kindness shown to Gordon from the lady offering a cup of tea, the coffee shop offering us a complimentary biscuit, reception staff to the frontline staff putting their own lives at risk to try and save my husband.
"Greatest kindness and consideration"
