"Cancer care & closure of Hale Hospital"

About: St Michael's Hospital (Hayle)

(as a carer),

I know the Royal Cornwall Hospital is not responsible for the decision to close Hale, but surely it would make more sense to 'ring-fence' Hale as a place to care for cancer patients away from the risk of infection from Coronavirus?

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to send us a message. Firstly I'd like to reassure you that St Michaels Hospital in Hayle has not closed. As part of a trust wide plan in relation to the Corona virus pandemic, whilst taking into consideration many factors, St Michaels Hospital will be operating as a 'Trauma/ Injuries' hospital. Contingencies have been put in place for patients who require cancer treatment, and these plans will be discussed with patients on an individual basis.

Many thanks

Shelley Jackson
