I live alone. In January 2020 I was at the top of my garden (100ft) starting a bonfire (it was 3pm) and I stepped backwards with my right foot (in NOT gardening shoes!) and felll heavily, (breaking my ankle (in three places it transpired) and had to 'bottom' it all the way down (nobody around) to the back door and phone.
~The paramedics came in 20 minutes and were SO good with me. Hospital, again, all staff who attended me were very kind and caring. Plaster cast put on and stayed the night and then went home. In February returned to see Mr Shamai (Associate Specialist in Trauma and Orthopaedics) who said I needed an operation the next afternoon (which happened to be my birthday!). All went well, steel rod and a number of screws inserted. I left at the end of the next day with all the support and care that anybody could possibly want.
