"public thanks to everyone involved in my cancer treatment and care"

I just wanted to publicly thank all of the people who’ve been involved in my cancer treatment and care in the past three years at the Western General Hospital, the Edinburgh Cancer Centre and the Blue Practice, Stockbridge Health Centre, Edinburgh. – over 40 of you!.  And, yes, I know I’ve already thanked lots of you personally, but I want to put on record how much I’ve appreciated all you’ve done for me.    

You’ve all been so kind, efficient, good at your jobs, helpful, patient, informative and went to endless trouble to make me feel as ok as I could under often very trying circumstances.  You’ve consistently taken into account the stress caused by the seemingly never ending uncertainty, the long waiting times in between tests and results, and cancer treatment.  Most of you understand that under these circs the smallest thing can knock you off your trolley!     Even though it’s very apparent you are all under a lot of pressures – time, staff shortages, funding, meeting NHS targets etc etc….  

So, I’m so sorry that you’re all having to keep on meeting yet more pressures during the corona virus pandemic.   I hope that the Scottish Government is making sure you all have all the safety clothing and equipment you need to keep you fit and healthy.  And, if not, who should I contact to make sure this happens?

Dr Peter, Lesley and everyone at reception, and to all those people behind the scenes who I’ll never meet – medical secretaries, cleaners, cleaning staff, catering staff, managers,  IT wizards and everyone else who keeps the Blue Practice going.
