"Ruined my skin "

I went to SKN as I suffered with mild acne with the occasional breakout on both cheeks and wanted something to be done about it before I turned 30. One of their consultants recommended that I have light therapy called Kleresca and assured me that it would reduce my acne and redness. I spent approximately £900 paying for the treatment and their products and then went up to the clinic once a week for 6 weeks to partake in the treatment.

My skin got incredibly worse as I had the treatment which I was told was completely normal and it would get worse before it got better as it was clearing my skin from the inside.

After I finished the treatment my skin was horrendous with my acne going from mild to severe. There was not one part of my face that was clear, both cheeks were extremely red and sore with huge spots covering them.

I chased and chased the consultants at the clinic and the rep of kleresca and was told contradicting things. I was then sent in rush hour to see one of the clinical doctors at another clinic 20 miles from where I lived and was receiving treatment. I was in and old of the ‘consultation’ in 3 minutes and the ‘doctor’ Told me that he could get rid of practically any acne and advised me to pay for a further consultation with him.

I went back to my house with a face full of spots feeling deflated and incredibly insecure and upset. After a few months of chasing and sending pictures (as luckily I documented my journey) I was finally given a refund for the treatments as it had not only happened to me but had happened to another individual who had the treatment at the same time as me.

I was not compensated for my travels or for the further products I bought during the course of my treatment which was recommended to me.

I did not go back to the beginning as my skin was incredibly worse than when I originally went in. I had to go to the doctors and get medication to try to combat the severe acne that occurred due to the kleresca treatment.

I never received an official apology nor offered any free treatment to return my skin to its original state. I was just left to sort it out myself which seems quite harsh and unacceptable.

8 months later, my skin is just about clear with the medication I have been taking from the doctor. However, I have been left with massive pores and scars on my cheeks from kleresca. I could not go out into the street without at least tinted moisturiser which I used to do quite happily with mild acne.

I have spent the last 8 months feeling depressed and insecure, even leaving me unable to leave my house because I was scared that people were looking at me and my skin.

I would not recommend SKN to anyone. They stated that they were SKN experts but I was not given any support or advice when my skin suffered because of what they recommended. They gave me my money back and washed their hands of me leaving me with a face full of spots.

Extremely disappointed.
