"Waiting time for neurology"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as the patient),

Hi, it is worrying that I was told today. Someone over the phone told that I need to wait from 26 to up 30 weeks. I was so surprised by this bad news.

But under standards, I need to wait for a referral "18 weeks Referral to Treatment".

At this moment I'm not sure why it's come to 26-30 weeks?!

In addition, I have third tonic-clonic seizure and it's quite worrying. I'm not sure what is happening right now to me!

I don't want to live with seizure. I cannot make a normal life.

Hello Fr20,

Please accept my sincere apologies for the difficulty you're having in getting your Neurology appointment and the stress this is causing. I know that waiting for an appointment can be a worrying time.

Unfortunately, our Neurology department is experiencing extended waiting times and for a number of reasons, we are not able to meet the National Waiting Times Guarantee just now.

All the very best,
Rachel

Update posted by Fr20 (the patient)

Hello Rachel,

I did not expect that is looking so bad.

So if I have first seizure I should wait for neurology appointment ( as a urgent ) withing two weeks.

The worst things I'm worrying that maybe I have different illnesses:

Maybe I have some problems in my brain that can sometimes cause epilepsy, such as:

-an unusual growth (brain tumour )

-scarring in the brain and many others

It so worrying that I'm waiting so long and I'm not sure what is happening to me. At this moment it's 6 and half month pass and still waiting for the appointment but I should have an appointment within 2 weeks because it's an urgent.

I'm feeling depressed because of this situation.

I don't to apologise but I need action in my case.
