My father attended A&E department with a infected hand which had spread to a nasty cellulitis. He waited around 3-4 hrs while he had tests taken and awaited the results to be told he needed to be admitted for IV antibiotics. There were many people in the department at the time some complaining others sitting patiently like my father. The staff were extremely busy, yet still attentive, professional and caring. He then went up to D43 to once again have amazing care from very a dedicated and hardworking team. If we had to pay for this service we could not afford it and there but for the grace of god will we always keep it. So when you have to wait some time, you don't like the (free) or the staff member that greats you is not full of smiles or beans, or there has been a mistake made that is not life or limb threatening. please try and remember these people are working hard, they may have just saved someone's life or lost a life, they may have had to break bad news to a family, they may not have had their break and are tired and hungry. However, they are working in a role that is certainly not paid a great deal to help us all and it does not matter what they deal with they still carry on. Remember they are here to save our backside not run after it!
We as a family would like to say a huge thank you to you all at Sunderland royal hospital and the NHS as a whole.
"Amazing! "
