In Feb 2018 I found a lump in my breast I went to my GP who referred me to the breast clinic. I was seen within 2 weeks, examined by a lovely ANP? Marie and sent for a breast ultrasound. The ultrasound was carried out by Ann (Consultant radiographer) again lovely, professional, caring and compassionate. I had 6 biopsies taken at this apt. I was advised to return to clinic the following week for results, this was an extremely anxious time. That following week my world was shattered when I was told I had breast cancer! ! The staff were very reassuring and compassionate Mrs Lannigan, Kate breast nurse specialist and the CSW? name provided lots of support that afternoon. It was information overload. The next step in my journey was in the oncology day unit where I met some more wonderful staff (Diane and Lorna) especially. Then it was surgery time I arrived in day surgery was given a single room and again staff were friendly, caring and compassionate. I was planned overnight admission to ward 17, experience was good staff very attentive, good pain management, and explained everything about my wound drain. My whole journey was a very positive one under the circumstances and all staff involved are an asset to NHS Lanarkshire and University Hospital Wishaw.
