"Saying thank you"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

Last Tuesday evening we came to A&E after my elderly mother had fallen and knocked her head. The department was very busy and there was a extra person dealing with triage by the reception desk. He thought that my mother would need a ct scan and ordered it so that by the time the doctor came to attend to my mum it was time for the scan, before the doctor had ordered one. I am sure that if this had not happened we would have waited a further few hours to have that procedure. So I would like to say thank you for putting that in place ahead of time.

Also thanks to the nurse who allowed us to go with her to the ct scan and settle her on the machine so she did not become too distressed and also for the lady who sorted her out a temporary bed while she was having regular observations done, rather than having to keep returning to the waiting room.

The doctor on duty (Dr Goodwin) dealt with my mum in such a lovely way, making her feel assured and adding humour to lighten the situation. These small acts helped to ease a stressful situation and although it did feel like a long wait from when she fell to going home, I know they made a difference to hers and our stress.

I’m sorry I didn’t remember all names but thank you! As the current health care situation escalates I want to thank all nhs staff for doing the job they do and while in the heat of the moments when a family member is injured/ill, people may not say thank you at the time,  I’m sure so many people value the incredible work you do.

Dear Fallen path

Thank you for your positive feedback.

We are indeed very busy at the moment and feedback like this is very good for staff morale.

I will ensure this is passed onto our staff and we hope your mother is recovering well.

Kind regards

Louise
