"My dad on Johnson Heart Ward"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

Expectations were good as we had heard much about a well resourced specialist heart unit for Lincolnshire. Unfortunately despite the money obviously spent on the unit our experience was a real letdown. Our dad was transferred in from Pilgrim Hospital for an angiogram  but after being gowned up and taken down for the procedure was left parked up on a trolley for two hours before being told to get dressed as it wasn't happening, then returned to the ward with no information until sometime later.

He was left on his own in a side room with no monitoring or checks for over 5 hours before until we asked when visiting and was then connected to a machine. The following days over the weekend didn't improve with a real lack of any monitoring or care and when visiting we had to ask for the collection of stale urine bottles to be removed from the window sill where they had been for over 24 hours.

Overall a general lack of any basic management, nursing or physiotherapy help with his broken leg. Overall for an 87 year old with heart condition and a broken leg we expected better.
