"Feeling listened to meant the world"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine

(as a service user),

I wanted to say thank you to the staff nurses in A&E who, have been absolutely incredible with me recently. My mental health has been really struggling and it has resulted in multiple trips to A&E because it’s got too much and ARI is where I feel safe. All of the staff nurses have been amazing but, notably I wanted to say a huge thank you to Isla. She has been there every single time, listened and let me feel heard and safe. She’s had a huge amount of patience with me and, it really hasn’t gone unnoticed.

The A&E nurses are an absolute credit to NHS Grampian and I’m so grateful they’ve been there when my mental health has been desperately struggling.

Thank you for sharing your story AberdeenAngel.

I’m responding to you as a member of the Quality Improvement & Assurance Team – just while the staff at A&E are helping manage the Covid-19 outbreak, but I can assure you the nurse manager at A&E has read your post and will make sure your story is shared with all the amazing nurses, especially Isla who has listened to you and helped you feel safe when you’ve been struggling.

Take care,

Kirsten
