"Therapies organised by peer support worker"

About: Peer Support in psychatric

(as the patient),

I just wanted to thank Alan the peer support worker in Ward 2 Psychiatric at Wishaw Hospital. His commitment for making people feel better highlighting the need for therapies and not just medication .

Alan consistently organised walks, meditation ,mindfulness, yoga, tai chi and music .

Since I was last in hospital just over a year ago when my Mum died there has been such a difference to what is on offer to patients .

It gave me a sense of purpose and empowerment knowing I had these therapies and they were helping me on my road to recovery .

I know Alan is keen to have more therapies and I am sure the ward could benefit even more if anyone is willing to give their time and expertise probably in the area of art, gardening ,drama, music ...I trained as a play therapist and can see what a difference they are making .Alan thankyou so much
