"I am willing to suffer rather than go back there again"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

The communication in the department is extremely poor.  I actually wish I had gone elsewhere!

I arrived at 20.30 to be advised the wait was 2 hours.  At 2am, the wait was a minimum of 2 hours, we only found this out when I asked a staff member! Communication was absolutely zero - we had to ask.  The electronic board detailing waiting times was very inaccurate, giving false hope.

The chairs were far too uncomfortable to wait all night, so I left without being seen.  Hopefully my injury will heal itself but I am willing to suffer without being seen rather than go back there again.

The department was cold and dirty.  Staff did little to stop the smokers in the doorway in front of the “this trust is a smoke free zone”.

I will take family members to a hospital further away if we require urgent care in future.

Hi

Thankyou for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent visit to Lincoln ED. I am sorry you felt we didn't meet your expectations. I would be happy to investigate this further if you would like to supply your details. If you feel able to, could you please email me your details to patient.experience@ulh.nhs.uk.

All staff in Lincoln ED strive to provide the best care in sometimes difficult circumstances and I can only apologise that you didn't feel this on this occasion.

The waiting area is cleaned several times a day, the toilets are checked on a rota. Bins are provided for patients and visitors to dispose of their own rubbish.

The recent No Smoking Policy the trust has adopted is in force, ED staff rarely have time to police the grounds outside the department.

Once again please accept my apologies

Many Thanks

Elaine Turrell
