I had been referred by my GP on the advice of several consultants involved in my care due to some blood results.
As someone who has lost family members to blood disorders I was pretty nervous.
I saw a doctor who was pleasant but very direct/blunt manner to the point of rudeness. The doctor told me they were being forced to work today so wasn't very happy about it. Which made me feel rather uncomfortable - I truly appreciate the commitment and hours that clinicians work and it made me feel like they didn't want to be there.
I was not asked at any point about my symptoms just quoted what had the doctor was reading from the letter my GP had sent. As it was some time ago when the referral was made, I tried to update the doctor with the new information and this appeared to be met with disdain and I felt treated as if I did not know what I was talking about.
I was told I shouldn't have been referred, everything was related to my existing conditions, the doctor made a strange face when I showed them photos of some visible symptoms and the doctor laughed and said they weren't an expert in that and rambled on for a bit about why other clinicians thought that they should be, the doctor also got some of my information wrong and when I tried to correct the error I got an interrogation so I ended up feeling really upset by the doctor's behaviour it was very intimidating.
I was discharged without understanding why and told to have a yearly blood test and again without explanation. I wasn't allowed to share my symptoms or ask questions. It felt like the doctor thought I was wasting their time.
