"Really made a difference"

About: General practices in Lothian Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Surgical Observation Unit

(as the patient),

My GP managed to refer me directly to colleagues at Surgical Observation at RIE. I felt tired and sore and frightened that I was potentially facing a surgical intervention. The nurse Practitioner (Angela) approached me on arrival in the unit and was kind and helpful. She led me to the correct area and explained what would happen. Angela returned multiple times to take history, gather obs and do diagnostic tests. I was struck by her professional yet friendly way and most significantly her communication skills. How she shared her experiences as a nurse were helpful and interesting. She was honest, kind and compassionate. Really made a difference. Thank you
