Having spoken to my mum who attended the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow,I was shocked to hear that as staff were sticking up advice re coronavirus, the receptionist took my mum's appointment letter and proceeded to lick a finger to separate the pages and then hand the letter back to her. This is poor basic hygiene being demonstrated by a member of staff who should have known better. I would expect NHS staff to have completed appropriate training to reduce risk of infection, especially since my mum has recently had surgery and is more at risk. This situation made me frustrated that we as public are being told how to avoid spreading infection but staff do not seem to be adhering to the guidelines either.
