"Diabolical Rheumatology "helpline" phone system"

About: Cannock Chase Hospital

I called today regarding an appointment that had been made for me for the end of March 2020. I am currently having a flare of rheumatoid arthritis and my condition has been worsening since before Christmas 2019. I am not on any therapy for my RA, and called by phone ten days ago and was issued with a nurse appointment. The nurse I spoke with was so very helpful, however, she stated that because I am not being medicated with anything she cannot prescribe meds and as such I would have to wait to see the consultant. I heard nothing for eight days and this morning a letter arrived in the post telling me I have an appointment for the end of March!!!! I tried to call the helpline today and have been on hold practically since 13:30 when the helpline opened after lunch. The staff have CLOSED the helpline early today. I did NOT speak to anyone as I was waiting and waiting. I'm so very angry about this. It is hard enough trying to get hold of someone to talk to...yet for this - UGH!!!!

Not a happy patient.

I have not got a problem with the staff at Cannock, they are lovely and helpful., however, said "helpline" doesn't help anyone because its opening times are so restrictive!!!!!
