"I am terrified of hospitals"

About: Barnsley Hospital / General medicine

(as a service user),

I am terrified of hospitals, treatment and especially needles. Despite having had 5 months of aggressive treatment for cancer previously, I continue to have nightmares and panic attacks at the thought of yet more forms of treatments.

However, I must relate how these are my hang ups because I have nothing but praise for the staff involved in my angiogram procedure. They acknowledged my fears and treated me with kindness and respect. I recognised from the beginning that I was being treated by people who cared about me as a person not just as the ‘next on the list’. From start to finish the quality of care was excellent. Thank you so much from both my wife and myself.
