"Dysfunctional"

About: Bedford House Medical Centre

I asked for a blood test to check my cholesterol and was advised by a GP that due to too many patients requesting blood tests which the practice deemed unnecessary, that blood will not be taken any more at the patients' request.

So I ask where does that leave me when I need a HbA1c for a diabetic clinic appointment? The GP asked me to ask my consultant to send them a letter requesting a blood test. When I informed my consultant, he said they should be testing my blood anyway, meaning that it should not take a letter from him to Ashton Medical Group to check my cholesterol and HbA1c etc etc.

I will turn up to my next consultant appointment at the diabetic clinic for the 2nd time without having had a HbA1c and see what happens. This blanket ban will suit some patients but not all because the prevention is better than cure does not apply at AMG.

Appointments to see GPs are not possible anymore unless we ring at 08:00 in the morning, if I ring too late, no matter what the urgency I have to call back the following morning.
