We have been in contact with Bothwell Medical Centre regarding my father-in-law, who is waiting for a cataract eye operation and has been for some months. It has been cancelled twice due to him having an eye infection on both occasions. We have asked if there is any way district Nurses could administer eye drops twice a day and have been told NO, they do not do this. We are very disappointed in the care my father-in-law has been given by Bothwell Medical Centre.
He has been waiting for some months for his eye operation and as a family we have been administering any care needed for him and my mother-in-law, as she is very physically disabled. He also has a chronic skin condition and needs moisturiser twice daily and eye drops twice daily.
I would like to know what the criteria is for a 91 year old man to get some care in the community.
