About: University Hospital Monklands / Cardiology/Coronary Care Unit (Ward 18)

My first visit to this new Cardio Clinic and it was a breath of fresh air.  I have an inherited heart condition which has curtailed by activities quite considerably since I was diagnosed in 2012. Now that has all changed.

Nurse Catriona was so easy to talk to and offered a wealth of advise and insight into my condition without being  overly technical and also gave me the confidence to do more.  Previously after being diagnosed I had stopped taking any kind of exercise for fear of causing more harm to my already damaged heart.  My weight has ballooned, I'm getting more breathless and I feel a bit depressed about my physical decline.

Now after a very positive first visit I am more positive as I have been given clear advice that I can be more active and can improve my overall fitness which makes me a very happy man indeed.

Thanks Catriona, and hope to show you some signs of my improvement at our next meeting.
