"Exemplary Care"

About: Broomfield Hospital

My mum (age 90) was admitted into the stroke ward in Jan 2020 and I was absolutely blown away with the way the medical, nursing and auxiliary staff cared for her during her three week stay. Their relentless desire to investigate the cause of her condition and find a solution was remarkable. Even when it turned out that mum’s rapid deterioration was due to two different cancers rather than strokes, the way the staff of the stroke unit continued to care for her was heartwarming. To be perfectly honest by the time mum was moved to a nursing home in Feb 2020, she needed hospice nursing care rather than hospital healthcare, but this didn’t stop the stroke ward staff from continuing to look after her. The NHS often gets a bad press, but my experience with my mum was nothing but incredibly positive and although mum sadly passed away on 11th Feb 2020, her peaceful passing was in my opinion in no small measure due to the excellent care she had received. I am very grateful to the all three staff of ward A302 - Peter Garrido
