I’ve been in a wheelchair since autumn 2017, I have MS and it’s progressed that far. When you’re diagnosed with a condition like MS you’re told to only expect negative stories.
So in July last year I’d booked a funeral plan, sorted my will and all other relevant paperwork in case I didn’t make it to 40. I have very advanced symptoms.
Then my Locala OT (Hannah) came to catch up with me and every week things got better. She referred me to a Locala physio (Georgie) and my world turned around.
I worked with them for over 7 months and slowly, I started to regain some of the skills I thought I’d lost like going out with my family, doing tasks from my chair without support or eating with a knife and fork. I felt alive again!!
But my wonderful therapists weren’t finished yet.
They supported me to regain faith in my legs, which are very weak due to terrible spasticity. It took a long time but with their support I am now attempting to walk with the help of a walker. I don’t know where I’m heading (not very far 😄) and I can only take a few steps but the point is that with hard work and persistence it’s now possible for me to stand and take a few steps and it wouldn’t have happened without Hannah (my OT) and Georgie (my physio), so thank you so much!!!
"Walking again!!"
