"Getting my life back on track"

About: One Recovery Bucks / Aylesbury

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I had been using cocaine for 10 years. At the peak of my use I was spending a lot of money. I lost my business & my house through cocaine and subsequently my marriage. In 2019 I was referred to One Recovery. On my first day I met Kim. At first I was cynical but realised that my use had taken complete control of my life.

Kim didn't judge me at all and I felt I could be open & honest about my use. I used acupuncture which was probably the first time I sat still & relaxed for 10 years. I was given literature to take away. I read this every time I felt like using & kept it in the glove compartment of my car. We discussed things I could do to break "the cycle" of use. I started with decorating, making my house clean as opposed to the messy, dirty environment I had accepted living in. Once the house was clean, I tackled the car then it was me next to get clean. I regularly walked each day & found time to meditate. My use started to reduce & then it stopped. Thanks to Kim & One Recovery I was aided with some tools to break the cycle & get my life back on track.

Thank you for your help!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share you story and experience with us. From your feedback it sounds like you were ready to make the change after your life had become so unmanageable because of your cocaine use.

But wow look what you have achieved by taking back control and working on your recovery and breaking your cycle of use. You should remember to reflect and tell yourself well done (we can forget to give ourselves positive reinforcement).

We are so very lucky to have Kim as part of our team, she is an amazing colleague as well has key-worker to her service users. I will ensure she hears you feedback, I am sure she will bashful hearing the feedback.

Keeping working on the positive steps you have already made and can I wish you all the very best for your future.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Regards

Tracy
