"Lactose (milk sugar)"

About: King's Mill Hospital / Cardiology Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Cardiology

(as the patient),

About 18 months i started to look at my personal health as four many years prior my wellbeing was seriously compromised. I was forever going to the doctors with scabs on my head and a very itchy back together with always tied - couldn’t wait to get on the settee after half waking my dogs, and massive weight gains slowing me further down.

Then for some reason I spotted lactose free milk which said it was an aid to reducing weight which I assumed was caused my slothness   Then magic within 3days my back stopped inching my head scabs disappeared YES ! I found i was lactose intolerant so then I looked at my medication for my heart ,i had a major hart attack in 2005 and was gob smacked: ALL my medicine contained lactose (sugar milk)

And lo and behold, i was on the same medication as was given to me to take forever for 12 years, so i investigated and told my doctor surely I shouldn’t be on the same medication as was required immediately after leaving hospital. I went onto a very healthy diet as with the additional aid of a glass of red wine and two squares of dark chocolate as recommended by a leading heart surgeon to reduce my cholesterol  from 8.7 (the reason i had an heart attack) down to 2.1. in addition i was still on opramasole which I believe I should not have been taking for more than 6 x weeks after my attack - stopped immediately with doctor knowing, along with 2 x other tablets for my heart condition - again with doctors knowledge since the revision of my medication my heath has improved dramatically still climbing trees at 77 and feel great no more back aches.

So why are tablets contains lactose used by doctors ? The only reason I can see is its in the tablets is that it binds the tablet powder together so we are all being fed sugar via medication and considering that approximately 73% of the population is lactose intolerant in varying degrees i don't think the medical profession are doing us any favours there are alternatives

I did send my findings to NICE but no response and to ‘Yellow Card’ same here

In my opinion lots and lots of illnesses might be caused simply by lactose sugar milk and should at least be professionally investigated.

Both Kingsmill Hospital & Queen’s Medical Hospitals have supplied or given me prescriptions for medicines containing Lactose (milk sugar) which were never reviewed except by myself recently.

Kind Regards
