"I've tried everything under the sun"

About: Halton Hospital / Urology Warrington Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

When I first went to the hospital, the urologist insisted I try medication for my incontinence, even though I explained that I had been on these tablets before and had horrendous side effects and little help from them, this person even intimated that they would not treat me at all if I didn't take them.

So I spent two months going through all the side effects again, reported back, and underwent a barrage of tests. This went on from Nov 2018 and in March 2019 I was told I needed Botox injections. I explained that I could not tolerate a full anaesthetic as I have had a really bad reaction before, and was assured I could have a local anesthetic.

I recently (Jan 2020) was sent to Halton for the procedure, only to be told by the urologist on the day of my procedure that it was only possible to do this under full anaesthetic! They hadn't even read my notes. The procedure did not go ahead.

I  feel the urologist resented having to treat me, they kept referring to their cancer patients as though I was a burden as I have 'only been suffering from incontinence' for the last  thirteen years. It's not life threatening, I know, but it has a huge impact on my everyday life as I have to plan my life around loo visits and taking a huge bag of supplies out with me every time.

I've tried everything under the sun before going to my GP surgery, who are fantastic, really kind and sympathetic. For the last 15 months I've been back and forth between Warrington and Halton hospitals, trying to get some help. I've lost count of the number of appointments I've had, and the wages I have lost through having to take time off from my job. Now I'm told I will have to go to Whiston hospital, which will mean I have to get three buses there and back each time as I do not drive. I'm getting really depressed by the whole thing and feel as though all these delays and mistakes are designed to make me just give up and go away.
