"Hospital food"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Mental Health (Wards 19 &20)

(as the patient),

Since 2016 the food in hairmyers has been the exact same choice consisting of baked potatoes and omelettes with a choice of 3 sandwiches and again at dinner where the same choices are had day after day. Theres lack of variety and choice with very little balance. Being in ward 20 as a patient for a number of years the food hasn't changed and with medications making people feel more hungry and having the same things on offer it's making paitents eat more poorly and the lack of variety makes people feel like its groundhog day. Please change the menus and add more variety also the food is stodgy was better quality when the hospital made food on site

Dear Daffy98

We apologise that you felt that the Catering service fell below the high standards expected.

We propose to introduce a new 2 week patient menu cycle by the end of February 2020. This will include greater variety of choices for patients to choose from and patients will be offered another option at lunchtime in addition to omelettes and baked potatoes.

All our meals have been assessed by NHS Lanarkshire’s Chief Dietician to ensure they offer appropriate nutritional intake and balance and comply with national guidelines.

Regards

Willaim
