I was struggling to feed my newborn son, this was mostly due to a poor latch and the fact that my nipples were very damaged as a result of this. Susan came to the house and provided practical help, as well as a very caring approach. She listened to my concerns, and put my mind at ease and reassured me that things would improve. Despite being there to discuss breast feeding, Susan made it clear that if I could no longer cope, switching to a bottle was ok too. Essentially it was about what was best for me and my baby.
I was keen to continue with breast feeding so put into practice Susan’s suggestions which were very effective. I knew I could contact Susan at any time, being able to text her was great as getting the chance to call with a newborn isn’t easy. She wasn’t always able to visit but would always call to discuss any concerns I had.
I think without this service I would have given up on breast feeding.
